Find Better Rare Answers in 25 Seconds

A practical recall routine for Krillion: keep a safe answer, change categories and submit a precise candidate.

Spend the first moment on the boundary

Read the restriction before brainstorming. “A city in Europe with more than 100,000 people” is narrower than “a place in Europe.” A strong candidate meets every condition, not just the broad topic.

Keep one safe candidate

Start with an answer you can defend and spell. This gives you a fallback if the more unusual candidate never arrives. Do not use most of the timer trying to reconstruct a name you only half remember.

Change the retrieval cue

Switch region, decade, material, cuisine or subcategory. If a music prompt makes you think only of instruments in a rock band, try an orchestra or a different musical tradition. The new cue can produce a less familiar but still valid name.

Prefer precise knowledge to obscurity

Choose something you know rather than a word that merely sounds rare. The official scoring is curated, so rarity in your own experience is only a guide. Review the source reveal afterwards and note which cue helped you recall the answer.
